Some 5,340 meals has been collected by Lions Club and Tesco volunteers in Tesco stores in Mayo during a two-day Christmas food appeal.
Tesco has announced it will also top up the local Mayo donations by 30 per cent.
The collections took place on December 5 and 6 and gathered the equivalent of €11,368 worth of food donations, which will be distributed as festive food hampers to support families and communities across Mayo over Christmas.
