A man in his 70's was fatally injured when he was struck by a car on the N17 at Clare, Claremorris this morning at approximately 7.30am.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the car involved in the collision was uninjured.
The road remained closed this morning and early afternoon pending the completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigations team.
