If you are looking for some comedic relief to brighten up a dark winter evening, then look no further than The Far Off Hills, coming to the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Monday and Tuesday, December 8 and 9.
A revival of a classic Lennox Robinson comedy from 1928, The Far Off Hills is an uproarious tale of scheming siblings, love, and general jiggery-pokery.
Set in a sleepy town in rural Ireland, everything is about to change in the lives of Patrick Clancy and his three daughters.
A looming eye operation, a convent bound daughter, the arrival of the young and devilishly handsome Pierce Hegarty, and the gloomy presence of Harold Mahoney, the biggest moaner in Ireland, all combine to put the Clancy household under some serious pressure. Will they be able to withstand it?
The classic work is given new life under the direction of the award-winning Mikel Murfi (creator of The Man in the Woman’s Shoes ).
Described as “a slapstick, boisterous production that’ll leave audiences spinning in their seats”, The Far Off Hills is presented by Loco and Reckless Productions in association with Nomad Theatre Network, by agreement with Abbey Theatre Amharclann na Mainistreach.
