Mayo vocal group Coda bring their musical talents to the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar on Thursday next at 8 pm.
Coda is a group of seven singers and musicians who developed their own richly-harmonised approach to vocal performance from diverse vocal and instrumental backgrounds, including folk, trad, blues, rock and pop music.
This sound is uniquely complemented by their multi-part vocal harmony experience, gained from classical choral music.
Coda released its debut CD Mouthmusic last November.
Coda offers seven-part harmonies in an eclectic mix of musical styles, including Celtic and North American music, traditional and contemporary folk songs, original compositions and popular songs from sources as diverse as Clannad, Tom Waits, Van Morrison and The Beatles.
The group’s repertoire comprises both a capella arrangements and songs with instrumental accompaniment as well as traditional Irish music.
Singing ‘Mayo Home’, penned by Declan Askin, Coda performed at the Westport Music Festival 2013 and on RTÉ’s Up for the Match on the eve of Mayo’s All-Ireland final appearance in 2013.
Coda comprises Declan Askin, Alan Drumm, Conall Ó Domhnaill, Brian Lennon, Mike Cannon, Steve Bryant and Leonard Kelly.
Coda performs at the Linenhall Arts Centre on Thursday, November 13, at 8pm. Booking is advised. Telephone (094 ) 9023733 or book online at www.thelinenhall.com
