Season of thought-provoking documentaries at Claremorris Film Society

Claremorris Film Society is hosting a series of thought-provoking documentaries this winter, in the atmospheric setting of Claremorris library, thanks to Mayo County Council and local librarian Tom Murtagh.

The next installment in the series will be screened on Thursday, November 27.

Tackling a very current issue, Blue Gold: World Water Wars, examines the environmental and political implications of the planet’s dwindling water supply and predicts that future wars will be fought over water.

The film also highlights some success stories from water activists around the world and makes a strong case for community action on the issue.

Continuing the series, The Dhamma Brothers, a documentary about a prison meditation program in Alabama, will be screened on Thursday, December 18.

The Dhamma Brothers features four inmates, all convicted of murder, and includes interviews with guards, prison officials, local residents and other inmates, as well as re-enactments of their crimes.
