Peter Hynes informed Westport area committee members that in November last year the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food sought applications for funding for 2009, with a copy of the report circulated at the meeting.
Some €30 million is now being sought for projects across three cost categories — those less than €100,000; €100,000 to €500,000; and over €500,000.
Mr Hynes said that he hoped there would be “an early and generous allocation” which will be “wisely invested”. Mr Hynes also commented that the harbour at the Quay could fall under the remit of the local area committee as soon as February 1.
