Coyle’s Gala Express Belmullet, Murphy’s Gala Ballina, Tuffy’s Gala Ballina, Durkan’s Gala Louisburgh and McGloin’s Gala Foxford were all rewarded the Gold Standard Award for excellence in retail standards at the 2014 Gala Annual Conference and BEST Awards, which took place this month at the Heritage Hotel, Killenard in Laois.
The awards were presented to each of the five Mayo Gala Stores, highlighting the gold standard service to their communities in the West. Staunton’s Gala in Ballyheane was also a winner, receiving a Silver Award on the night for their commitment to excellence. The accolades were awarded following a comprehensive and independent assessment process under the Gala Business Excellence Standards Tool programme. The awards were MC’d by Lorraine Keane with special guests footballer Niall Quinn speaking, and comedian Mario Rosenstock entertaining on the night.
Speaking at the conference, Gala CEO, Gary Desmond said: “We offer our congratulations to all of the Mayo winners - five gold and one silver is amazing for the county! These Gala stores are wonderful examples of local stores providing fantastic service to their customers. We wish all involved another successful year.’’
