Battle on the catwalk for novel fashion event

Nine shops are getting ready to do battle on the catwalk at a novel fundraising event that is sure to appeal to fashion followers.

Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation is holding the Battle of the Shops in the Royal Theatre, Castlebar, on October 30.

The fundraiser has challenged each of the hospice’s nine shops, which are located in towns across Mayo and Roscommon, to put their best fashion foot forward and show off their style on the catwalk.

All of the styles modelled in the shows will be selected from the stock in store in the hospice shops.

“We’re really looking forward to the challenge and to highlighting the gems that our nine charity shops have to offer,” said Lorraine Toner, development officer with Mayo Roscommon Hospice.

Each shop’s fundraising efforts will account for 50 per cent of its score while the judges’ comments will account for the other 50 per cent.

Battle of the Shops tickets cost €10 and available from the nine hospice shops in Ballina, Castlebar, Claremorris, Ballinrobe, Swinford, Westport, Castlerea, Boyle, and Roscommon, and from the hospice head office in Knock.

Doors open at 7pm for a wine and cheese reception with a show start time of 8pm.
