Frightening the living daylights out of everyone who visits Ballina, Samhain Abhainn 2014, the biggest fright fest in the west, will take place from October 25 to November 1.
The seven-day festival offers an action packed programme for people of all ages to enjoy, including the town’s first Frightfest at the Movies night and Zombie 5k.
The renowned Scary Woods Walk returns to the terrifying setting of Belleek, while a ghost story trail and Mini Monsters treasure hunt will also feature in the chillingly spectacular line-up.
Samhain Abhainn has grown to become one of the highlights of the festival calendar in Ballina.
Whether you are looking for a spooky interactive tour of the dungeons of Belleek Castle, a big night out on the town in your finest costume, a samba, a creative writing workshop for the children, or a scary walk for all the family to relish, Ballina is the place to be.
Some of the other events include a Creepy Hollow Kids Halloween Party at the Twin Trees Hotel, an Over 55 Club Halloween Dinner Dance at the Kennedy Glasgow Centre, and a competition for best decorated shops and pubs.
The Scary Woods Walk, sponsored by Ballina Beverages, is generating huge excitement as crowds are expected from near and far to experience the sheer terror, mixed with shrieks of laughter, in the expertly designed and spookily magnificent Belleek Woods.
This is an impressive event for all the family to enjoy and certainly not to be missed. The Mayo Arts Squad will transform the woods into an interactive installation of fright and fun.
The Scary Woods Walk takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, October 28, 29, and 30, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
Samhain Abhainn, October 25 to November 1, is a festival for all, with arts, crafts, music, and entertainment.
