A festival celebrating the finest in folk in the Royal Theatre next Thursday night (October 23 ) is to be MC’d by hugely respected songwriter, performer, and broadcaster, Charlie McGettigan.
Festival Folk is bringing together some of the best of Ireland’s folk and traditional talent all under one roof in the theatre for an unforgettable night of music.
All funds raised on the night go towards St Joseph’s Secondary School.
The line up includes Sean Keane, Mick Hanly, Eleanor Shanley, Charlie McGettigan, Michael Banahan, St Angela’s Grúpa Ceoil, and St Joseph’s Traditional Group.
The night’s entertainment will also feature the impressive 300 strong choir of St Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar.
School principal Marie MacCabe said they are “very excited” about the event.
“We know it is going to be a very entertaining night for the musicians involved and for all in attendance,” she said. “We are so very grateful to all the artists who will perform on the night.
“A huge thank you has to go to our students, the parents, staff, and the local community in Castlebar and its hinterland, who are all helping to ensure the Festival Folk concert is as successful as possible, and, ultimately, a very enjoyable night of entertainment for all those in attendance.”
