Plans to develop the community centre on the grounds of Behy National School in Ballina got a major funding boost with the announcement of an almost €340,000 LEADER grant for the project.
Fine Gael Deputy Michelle Mulherin welcomed the funding approved for Behy Community Hall Ltd. through the Mayo North East Leader Partnership company.
“This is great news for the project promoter and the local community,” she said.
She said the project will also provide a boost to the local building sector once the work commences.
Work is expected to get underway in the coming weeks.
