Top Mayo musicians come home for Comhaltas tour show

There is a treat in store for fans of traditional music this October when 13 of the country's best musicians, singers, and dancers come to Castlebar as part of the annual Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann tour.

They will perform in the Welcome Inn Hotel on Saturday October 18 at 8.30pm.

The group start their nationwide tour in Dublin on Sunday October 12, in the Culturlann, and Castlebar is the only Mayo venue in the two week nationwide trad fest so it looks to be a sell-out.

Mayo is well represented on the touring party this year with two fine young musicians.

Éadaoin Ní Mhaicín of Castlebar Comhaltas and Alannah Thornburgh of Swinford Comhaltas are both members of the touring party.

They are accomplished musicians  with a record of achievement.

It is 30 years since the annual Comhaltas tour last came to Castlebar and this year’s visit comes hot on the heels of the extremely successful Connacht Fleadh, which was held in the town last July.

Tickets are on sale now from local Comhaltas branches and tickets will also be on sale on the door.

Tickets are also available from Siobhan Gallagher on (086 ) 1571428 and email [email protected].
