Cannonball spectacle attracted twenty thousand

Some 20,000 people converged at the Quay Village and lined the streets and approach roads in Ballina to witness the recent Cannonball spectacle.

Cannonball, the world’s most impressive road trip comprising a convoy of 160 ‘supercars’, made its first stopover in Ballina on September 13.

The event attracted some high profile fans, including former president Mary Robinson and An Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

“It was a wonderful example of how great things can be achieved when the community comes together, and demonstrated the huge spirit of volunteerism that is alive and well in the area,” said one of the local organisers Alan Murphy.
