Billy Elliot set for live broadcast to Mayo

One of the most celebrated, award winning musicals on stage today, Billy Elliot, will reach a whole new audience when it is broadcast live from London’s Victoria Palace Theatre on Sunday September 28.

And the Mayo venue for the special West End hit broadcast is Mayo Movie World, Castlebar.

Set in a northern mining town, against the background of the 1984/’85 miners’ strike, Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of one young boy’s struggle against the odds to follow his dreams.

Elton John is the creator of the music for the show.

Billy Elliot has been seen by more than 9.5 million people worldwide since it was first staged in the West End in 2005.

This upcoming special performance of the show will feature the return of Liam Mower, the first boy to play the role of Billy on stage.

Twenty-six past and present Billys will also reunite for a special mash-up finale.

With unforgettable music, sensational dance, and a powerful storyline, this is one theatrical experience that will stay with you forever.

Billy Elliot is coming to the big screen in Mayo Movie World at 2 pm on September 28.
