Last chance to go up or avoid the drop

It is all or nothing this weekend for a number of clubs as the final round of action in the Mayo League gets down to action. As it stands, we know that in the Super League Westport United are the champions, Fahy Rovers have been relegated with either Moy Villa or Iorras Aontaithe joining them in the Premier A next year. In the second tier Ballyglass and Conn Rangers have been promoted, but Westport United B could pip them to the title yet. At the bottom Urlar United are gone, with Snugboro United and Killala battling it out to avoid the drop, with the odds very much favouring the north Mayo men. In the Premier B, Kiltimagh/Knock United are the champions, Castlebar Celtic C and Iorras Aontaithe B are relegated, with Glenhest Rovers and Ballyhaunis Town battling it out for the last promotion place. The action in League One will also come down to the last day, with a winner takes all showdown on Sunday, while League Two was finished off a few weeks ago.

Saturday evening is where it will come down for decision for the two sides in relegation trouble in the Super League, Iorras Aontaithe have dragged themselves from the foot of the table to leave themselves in a good position to avoid the drop. They stand two points clear of Moy Villa and a point from their final game against the already relegated Fahy Rovers will see them at worst end up in a play-off with the side from Attymass. Moy Villa will make the short trip to Belleek to take on Ballina Town hoping against hope that they can get a win and things go their way in Moneen. Last weekend Ballina Town could not field a team against Westport United and their near neighbours would not mind the same thing this weekend, but the Mayo League would have serious questions to ask.

In the Premier A on Sunday it is a high noon showdown with three games that will affect the top and the bottom of the table. Ballyglass and Conn Rangers are already promoted as Westport United B cannot go up, but they can still nick the title. Conn Rangers and Ballyglass have 40 points each, with Westport United B sitting on 38. Westport United B will host Conn Rangers on Sunday, while Conn Rangers are away to Snugboro United. The game in Conway Park between Snugboro United and Conn Rangers will have ramifications for the bottom of the table also, as the Boro need to get a win and hope that Partry Athletic see off Killala, to force a play-off for the final relegation spot. It will definitely be a case of mobile phones to the ready around the three grounds on Sunday.

In the Premier B, Kiltimagh/Knock United have already claimed the title, but there are just two points between second placed Glenhest Rovers and third placed Ballyhaunis Town, with one promotion spot left up for grabs. On Sunday Glenhest Rovers will be at home to Conn Rangers B, while Ballyhaunis Town are away to Mulranny United. Combined with Glenhest's home advantage, it is hard to look past the Rovers grabbing the final promotion spot.

The fixture makers could not have planned it better in League One with Manulla B and Bangor Hibs meeting in Carramore at 12 noon to decide who will claim the title. Currently Manulla B are sitting on top of the table two points clear of Hibs, so all they have to do is to avoid defeat, but with Bangor coming to town with ace goal-scorer Brian McHale in fantastic form this year that will not be such an easy task. This is definitely one to keep an eye on.
