Sinn Féin’s Councillor Rose Conway-Walsh is to call on Mayo County Council to support a national campaign to ease restrictions on the availability of ‘EpiPens’.
An EpiPen (or epinephrine auto injector ) delivers a dose of adrenaline to people suffering a potentially fatal severe allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis.
Cllr Conway-Walsh said her call follows on from the death of 14-year-old Emma Sloan in Dublin after her mother was refused an EpiPen by a pharmacist because she didn’t have her prescription with her.
Cllor Conway-Walsh will call on her fellow elected representatives to support the campaign at the monthly meeting of Mayo County Council on Monday.
