More than 1,700 hill farmers attended a public meeting on Wednesday night in Westport.
The meeting was on a controversial clause for commonage farmers to be eligible to enter the new Glas environmental scheme.
For hill farmers on commanage to get on Glas, 50 per cent of the commonage farmers must together agree to enter the scheme.
Many farmers at the meeting, who attended from all over Connacht, called for this condition to be removed.
The meeting is reportedly one of the largest farmers meetings ever held in Mayo.
