Drivers without valid Driver CPC face steep fines

Advance Drive in Salthill, Galway, was established in 1989 and has been providing training to new and professional drivers for more than 25 years.

Advance Drive provides Driver CPC training courses weekly in The McWilliam Park Hotel, Claremorris, and the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, with evening and day time courses available.

As the Driver CPC deadline is fast approaching Advance Drive is encouraging drivers not to wait until the deadline to get their CPC completed.

The deadline for truck drivers to have all five CPC modules completed is September 9.

The Driver CPC was introduced across the EU in 2009 for truck drivers. Truck drivers who held their licence since before 2009 were automatically entitled to Driver CPC and this was called ‘acquired rights’.

Drivers were required to complete 35 hours of periodic training over the last five years in order to keep their CPC valid.

Bus drivers who completed their five CPC modules last year should have their refresher module completed by the deadline on September 9.

Professional drivers who are caught driving without a valid Driver CPC card are fined €2,000 for the driver and an additional €5,000 for the employer.

The next available course dates for Claremorris: Thursday August 28 Module 5; Saturday August 30 Module 2; Monday September 1 Module 1; Tuesday September 2 Module 4; Wednesday September 3 Module 5; Thursday September 4 Module 6; Friday September 5 Module 2; Saturday September 6 Module 4; Monday September 8 Module 3.
