New attractions at Westport House

Westport House, the home of family fun for more than 50 years, has added new attractions this week further enhancing the fantastic tourism offering it brings to more than 140,000 visitors a year.

Immerse yourself in a fun and fact-filled journey through one of Ireland's most beautiful towns and estates. Suitable for all the family, this trip will start and end at the newly opened Church Lane entrance to Westport House, visiting 29 points of interest including Westport Quay and the Octagon and will last 45 minutes. The liquorice allsorts-coloured train is already a big hit with visitors to Westport. The two main pick up points include Westport Quay and Church Lane gates to Westport House. Tickets are available to buy on the train or at Westport House ticket offices and train users can avail of 10 per cent off day tickets to Westport House and Pirate Adventure Park. The Westport Train Tour will run daily in August and September, check www.westporttraintour.com for times of departure.

Birds of prey show

Meet Hugo the peregrine falcon, Arizona and Nevada the Harris hawks, Oisin the baby barn owl, and Gandalf the grey grey owl daily in a 45 minute educational and entertaining show featuring Ireland's birds of prey. Enjoy a dynamic and passionate show in the beautiful heritage setting of one of Europe's most extensive farmyard buildings at Westport House. The show runs daily at 3pm from August 3 to August 26 only. Tickets are on sale at Westport ticket office or online at www.westporthouse.ie and are separate to tickets to the attraction.

Outdoor Theatre: Alice Through the Looking Glass

Enjoy an enchanted summer's evening of outdoor entertainment in the beautiful grounds of Westport House. Quantum Theatre presents a new adaptation of Lewis Carroll's timeless classic, Through The Looking Glass (and what Alice found there ). Bring a picnic, your blanket, and chill out from 7pm on August 18 and 19.
