Swedish company expects to hook Killala based seafood company

William Carr and Sons seafood business, which is based in Killala, was placed into receivership last week and, according to national reports, is expected to be sold to Swedish seafood group Mondi. Receiver Kieran Wallace of KPMG was appointed by Ulster Bank to takeover the company last Friday.

William Carr and Sons started in north Cork in the 1940s and bought Carrokeel Seafood in Killala in 2004 and headquartered the business which employs 75 people in Killala, with most of the workforce based there.
