Mayo LEO launches the Four Minute Business Survey

An exciting project was launched last week in the new Mayo Local Enterprise Office in Cedar House. The Four Minute Mayo Business Survey is giving every business owner/manager the opportunity to enter their business into a draw for a €3,000 local media voucher.

The idea is extremely simple. The Local Enterprise Office is asking as many business owners/managers as possible to log on and fill out a very quick survey. It only takes four minutes and is giving each and every business in the county the opportunity to express their view on the landscape of enterprise in the county, such as what problems are affecting your business? How can we help you? Are you growing your business in 2014?

The Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Cllr Damien Ryan, launched the initiative and is encouraging every business in the county to log on to www.localenterprise.ie/mayo and complete the survey. Speaking at the event he said: “We want everyone from sole traders to retailers, and SMEs to our largest employers to fill out the survey. This is an opportunity for the business people to have their say and help us tailor policy and investment in the county.

“Members of the Local Enterprise Office gave a very interesting overview of the project and its potential, particularly in supporting business locally and also in how the Local Enterprise Office and Mayo County Council intend attracting business and employment to our county.”

Head of the Mayo County Council’s enterprise and investment unit Joanne Grehan reiterated her commitment to working with local business managers and local business representatives. She said: “This initiative is about three simple things, communication, responding to local needs and growing business in Mayo. Essentially we are trying to determine who exactly is out there, how can we contact them, what issues are they facing and how can we help them sustain and grow?”

Mayo County Council chief executive Peter Hynes said: “One of the key objectives of Mayo County Council is to sustain and grow enterprise and employment in the county. We aim to make Mayo the best county in which to do business. Our enterprise and investment unit under the leadership of Joanne Grehan are doing a fantastic job and this initiative is another example of the very positive work which they are undertaking”.

He also noted that this success was down to “the great relationship we have with local business and the collaborative approach that has fostered so much success”.

A local promotion campaign has now been launched and will include email and phone calls to all businesses in the county. Keep an eye on your local paper for continual updates and keep an ear out on the radio for advertisements. There is €3,000 worth of local media to be won by one lucky business so there is huge incentive to log on, it only takes four minutes at www.localenterprise.ie/mayo If you have any questions in relation to the project or require any assistance filling out the questionnaire (including posted hard copy ) please contact (094 ) 9047699.
