The Mayo International Cup is back for third instalment

The Mayo International Cup 2014 is an elite U16 soccer tournament which will take place from Friday, August 22 to Sunday, August 24. The competition will be hosted at Milebush Park and will see a top class field of six teams taking part over the weekend. The sides taking part in this year’s competition are Millwall FC, Chesterfield FC, Republic of Ireland u16 (Development Squad ), Northern Ireland u16 (Development Squad ), Glentoran FC and the host team the Castlebar FAI Regional Centre u16 squad. This year Milebush Park will host all of the matches and it is hoped it will help create a festival atmosphere in the Castlebar venue over the weekend.

The Mayo International Cup is a not for profit event, sincerely thankful to its current sponsors and partners who make this possible, and welcomes any additional sponsors to aid successful development.

The competition will have two groups of three, with Republic of Ireland, Chesterfield and Glentoran in group one and Northern Ireland, Millwall FC and FAI Castlebar in group two.

The action will kick off at 6pm on the Friday evening with the meeting of Millwall FC and Northern Ireland and it will be followed by Chesterfield FC and Republic of Ireland at 7.15. On the Saturday, the action gets under way at 10am and there will be four more group games, before the semi-finals kick off at 6pm and 6.30pm. On Sunday, August 24 the fifth and sixth placed play-off will get the action going at 10.30am, with the third and fourth placed play-off at 11am and the final bringing the curtain down at 1.30pm. A three-day pass costs €10 with day passes costing €5 and u16s free of charge.
