A major investment to improve energy efficiency in a number of homes, community buildings, sports facilities and local authority buildings, has been announced in Mayo.
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI ) says it is granting a total of €718,000 to carry out improvements on the selected homes and buildings in Mayo Abbey, Ballyhaunis, Erris, Ballina, Castlebar and Ballinglen.
Clar ICH, Mayo Abbey Parish and Ballyhaunis Chamber of Commerce are to receive a grant of €458,000 to carry out upgrades on 48 homes and four community buildings.
Mayo County Council is to get a grant of €148,682 to lead a project for energy upgrades at a number of community buildings in the Erris area.
Kingspan, in conjunction with the St. Vincent de Paul, will carry out energy upgrades to 20 homes and a community centre at Garryduff, Castlebar.
Mayo Energy Agency Ltd is leading a project to upgrade insulation and heating at Ballina Arts Centre, Linenhall Arts Centre and Ballinglen Arts Foundation.
Electrical Pump Services has partnered with Retrofit Energy Ireland Ltd (REIL ) to carry out a further upgrade at Ballyhaunis Community Centre.
The funding will be provided through the Better Energy programme and is part of a €60 million investment nationwide in retrofitting energy efficiency upgrades.
