A demonstration in solidarity with the people of Gaza and Palestine, is taking place at Market Square, Castlebar, tomorrow (Saturday ) at 4 pm.
The demonstration is being organised by Mayo Friends of Palestine, a Palestine solidarity group, in response to the latest Israeli military action in Gaza, in which more than 200 Palestinians have died, according to world news agency reports.
Local councillor, Therese Ruane, is a member of Mayo Friends of Palestine.
She said the Israeli government needs to be held accountable for its actions in Palestine and appealed to people across Mayo to attend the peaceful, non-political demonstration tomorrow.
“Join us this Saturday to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine. Bring friends, placards, flags and banners,” she urged.
