Ballycroy National Park Visitor Centre, where visitors can experience many of the wild and spectacular attractions of north west Mayo’s landscape, has launched a jam packed schedule of summer events.
One of those events is a challenging but breathtaking, five-hour, ranger led hike through the park, taking place next Wednesday (July 23 ) from 10.30am.
The route will take in the highest peak in the Nephin Beg mountain range - Slieve Carr, standing at 721 metres - approaching the mountain from The Western Way.
Hikers will then traverse Corslieve (541 metres ), descend to the Bangor Trail, and meander on by Lough Aroher on the scenic Letterkeen Loop walk.
Sturdy footwear, rain gear and a packed lunch are required. The hike is graded as difficult and strenuous and booking is essential.
