Art exhibition, The Golden Age
Custom House Studios, Westport, officially opened
A new exhibition entitled The Golden Age has opened at the Custom House Studios, Westport.
The exhibition of contemporary work by Daniel Greaney is inspired by the history of art and the concerns of previous generations of artists, particularly Dutch art from the 17th and 18th century, which was generally considered a ‘golden age’.
Family event, Féile Na Mara/Festival of the Sea
Achill Island, all weekend
Achill’s Féile na Mara festival kicks off today and a jam-packed programme of events - including yawls, lobsters, blueways and tastings, is scheduled over the weekend to celebrate the sea and its fruits on one of the country’s most beautiful islands.

There will be plenty of lively stepping at a mini ceili tonight in Ballyheane Community Centre at 9 pm. Music will be provided by DJ John McGovern with complimentary refreshments and a raffle.
Art exhibition, Oddity
Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, continues
Oddity, an exhibition of contemporary fine art print, continues at the Linenhall Arts Centre in Castlebar until Saturday, August 23.
The collection of work was created by members of Lorg Fine Art Printmakers (former the Connaught Association of Printmakers ).
Theatre, The Nualas
Ballina Arts Centre, Saturday
The Nualas, a Dublin group who combine chat, comedy and music onstage, are coming to the Ballina Arts Centre at 8 pm on Saturday night.
This popular act has featured at top comedy festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe, and bring their latest offering, Geat Big Shiny Show, to Mayo for one night only.

Disco, ‘80s party night
Gateway Hotel, Swinford, Saturday
Step - or dance - back to the the 1980s with a fun party night remembering the music of the decade at the Gateway Hotel. There will be plenty of Bon Jovi, Journey and Wham, a cocktail bar and a fancy dress party with all proceeds in aid of the Youth to Lourdes fund.
Concert, Tribute to Bernie Horkan
Charlestown Arts Centre, tonight
The Whim N Rhythm choir will perform a special concert as a tribute to the late Bernie Horkan tonight at the Charlestown Arts Centre at 8 pm.
The famous Yale University choir regularly tour the world and a stunning performance is in store.
