The new Greenway Activity Park in Newport is officially open.
Minister of State for Tourism and Sport, Michael Ring, performed the official opening at the new facility on Friday.
The park was developed by Newport and District Development Company, South West Mayo Development Company and Mayo County Council.
“It is a credit to you that you are worked tirelessly for the betterment of your community,” said Minister Ring to the assembled crowd at the opening ceremony.
The Greenway Activity Park includes an astro-turf pitch, a multi-use games area and an outdoor community gymnasium.
“In addition to its use by the local community and residents of the surrounding area, the park will also serve as a further attraction for the increasing number of visitors to this beautiful part of Mayo, who are being drawn to the area by the amazing scenery and friendly people and by the Great Western Greenway,” said Minister Ring.
