Westport is to get a new, state-of-the-art coastguard station, complete with a small museum, next year.
Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring announced this week that the Office of Public Works had completed a feasibility study and the project has been included in the Coast Guard’s Capital Programme for 2015.
“I am delighted that this project is going ahead,” said Minister Ring. “This will be a vital life-saving facility and will be a huge boost to the dedicated men and women volunteers who give their time and commitment to the coastguard.”
