Hospice is running three exciting summer challenges

Mayo Roscommon Hospice has organised three great events to get outdoors and active this summer and raise funds for local palliative care services at the same time.

On July 20, the hospice is holding its annual memorial walk. The 5k walk takes place at various locations across Mayo and Roscommon starting at 1pm.

Participants can walk in memory of a loved one and will get a T-shirt which they can personalise with their own special messages on the day, with fabric markers provided on site. Register for the walk in your area at iregister.ie/memorialwalk

For cyclists, The Mick Murray Memorial Cycle is pedalling off in Fourmilehouse in County Roscommon on July 27.

There is a 110km route option; a 44 km route option, and a fun, family, cyle of about eight kilometres - all on the same day.

Registration and sign on for the event is between 7pm and 9pm on Saturday July 26, in the Abbey Hotel Roscommon, or on the morning of the cycle from 8.30am at Fourmilehouse Community Centre.

For more information on the event, contact Aidan on (086 ) 4090727, email [email protected] or register online at www.iregister.ie/mickmurraycycle

The hospice has also planned A Week on the Reek challenge from August 1 to 8.

The fundraising event is calling on people of all ages to climb the Reek for seven days in a row. People can also support the challenge by climbing for one or more days during the Week on the Reek. Participants can climb solo, meet others on the mountain, or organise a group for this challenge.

Each particpant decides the time of day he or she wants to climb so this challenge can suit all schedules.

The minimum fundraising target is €100 per person. Each climber will be given a long sleeved Hospice Week on the Reek technical top, fundraising tips, and sponsorship cards.

There will also be refreshments available for hospice climbers every day and a barbecue on the final day. Register for this event at www.iregister.ie/weekonthereek
