Two young Mayo designers have been recognised by the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland.
Emma Bourke, a glass blower from Westport, and furniture designer, Tom Sweeney from Castlebar, were amongst 19 design and craft experts chosen nationally for the Future Makers awards.
Both designers will now receive support for their work through the awards programme.
The selection panel for the awards included internationally renowned designer-maker Joseph Walsh; creative director and founder of Indigo and Cloth, Garrett Pitcher; and ceramic artist Neil Read.
With a total prize fund of more than €24,000, the Future Makers awards support the next generation of Irish creatives to develop a future in the craft and design industry.
