A brief history of Western Motors

Western Motors was founded in 1963 by Jim McCormack. As a result of his sad passing at the early age of 43, the company was taken over by his wife, Anne McCormack.

Over the next 20 years, Anne ran the business successfully, passing on Western Motors to her children.

The day-to-day running of the business was given to her son James McCormack and George Moran until 1998, when George retired. In 1997 Simon McCormack joined the company, which is now run by both James and Simon.

The business moved to its current Ballybrit premises in November 1999, where it now represents Volkswagen cars/commercials, SEAT cars, and Mercedes-Benz service.

In 2008 Western Motors was opened in the M1 Retail Park, Drogheda, Co Louth, where the Volkswagen car/commercial and Skoda franchises are now represented.

Over the past 50 years, Western Motors has been a Massey Ferguson Tractor dealer, an Austin, Jaguar, Fiat, Audi and Mercedes-Benz car dealer, and a proud Volkswagen main dealer.

Looking back over those 50 years, James McCormack, managing director, commented that changes in the economy have meant that “we have had to work hard as a team to deliver what our customers expect, but thankfully we have also had plenty of fun along the way and genuinely want to thank both our staff and our customers for the faith they have put in us over the years.”

The team at Western Motors are happy to say that they have plenty of superb offers available now.

The Volkswagen Golf has been with Western Motors for 40 years this year. To celebrate you can buy a new Golf with three years warranty, three years roadside assistance, a three year service pack for €469, finance from 3.9 per cent, a super trade in or cash discount, and a €1,000 bonus discount when you place your order. Volkswagen also has a number of other offers with up to €1,500 bonus discounts.

The SEAT Ibiza has been with Western Motors for 30 years as well. The Ibiza can be had with three years warranty, three years roadside assistance, three years free road tax, a three year service pack from €142, and finance from 1.42 per cent.

Offers are not just limited to new cars. Western Motors is currently offering up to €1,500 deposit contributions on a selection of used cars, with factory approved Volkswagen servicing from as little as €149, including a vehicle health check, and mini valet, or the same offer on Mercedes-Benz from €179.

According to James McCormack, if you are looking for quality and value, “we can offer this and the re-assurance that comes with a business that has been looking after its customers’ motoring needs for 50 years.” If you want to experience what Western Motors has to offer, visit their sites in Galway or Drogheda.
