One of Ireland’s leading recruiting experts, Hays, has reported a three-fold increase in the number of jobs on offer in the construction and property sector in Connacht during May 2014, when compared to May 2013. Quantity surveyors, senior building services design engineers (mechanical and electrical ), project managers, and site engineers have been most sought after in recent months. The increase in demand for construction professionals experienced by Hays is also reflected in recent economic data, with Ulster Bank’s Construction Purchasing Managers Index for May 2014, reporting that its ‘May data re-affirms the recent view of a sector on the mend’.
Niall Toland, director of the construction and property division for Connacht and Munster at Hays, said: “Since the start of the year there has been a marked increase in the number of jobs registered both in the temporary and permanent market. Our clients are a lot more positive about the market and the signs are encouraging within construction across the region. The need for construction professionals is again growing and is most evident with clients that are engaged in projects within the pharmaceutical, medical devices, industrial and commercial sectors. We are also beginning to see a slight increase in activity on the civil and structural and architecture side and we expect this to grow further in the months ahead.”
