Eimear is a literary smash hit

The literary accolades keep rolling in for author Eimear McBride and her novel A Girl is a Half-Formed Thing.

Ms McBride, who grew up in Castlebar and Tubbercurry, has taken the literary world by storm, scooping a string of major awards for her debut novel.

This week she won the Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction, which comes with a €30,000 award.

The novel has also won the Goldsmith’s Prize and been named the Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year.

Ms McBride penned the book in 2004 but it took nine years to get it published.
