Mayo Intercultural Action commended the many volunteers who commit their time to assisting with the organisation during MIA’S Christmas party.
Present on the night were members of the different groups facilitated and organised by MIA such as the intercultural singing group, English language social club, Irish language group, Ballyhaunis women’s group, and the intercultural craft circle.
All of the volunteers — more than 25 of them — were also given special awards and presentations in acknowledgement of their invaluable contribution to MIA.
Last year MIA won the Vodafone World of Difference Award, the World Refugee Award, and were also nominated for the MAMA award 2008. The visit of by Mary Robinson to MIA in July 2008 was also acknowledged as one of the highlights of the year.
