A full recount for the Ballina area is going ahead today in the TF Royal Theatre Castlebar following a request from SF candidate John Sheahan.
After an all night count in the Ballina area the final two seats were filled by Smyth (FF ) and Cruise (FG ) at around 7.30 am.
The margin between Cruise (FG ) and the next candidate Sheahan (SF ) narrowed to 11 votes at one stage in the final counts (count 10 ).
The expected time for the start of the recount hasn't been announced.
So, still no final result from Ballina for this election.

The outgoing Cathaoirleach of Mayo County Council, Johnny O'Malley (FG ) was excluded from the race in West Mayo on the ninth count in the Royal Theatre. His 1019 votes will now be distributed in the tenth count. There are still five seats to fill in this area and there are seven cadidates still in the hunt, with Fianna Fáil's Paul McNamara out in front at the minute and his running mate Sean Carey behind him in second place. Outgoing Fine Gael Cllr Austin Francis O'Malley will be hoping to get transfers from his excluded running mate to push him up the count.

No counts have been completed yet here in the Mayo local elections 2014. However, six councillors have exceeded the quota in their areas so far. They are: Michael Kilcoyne (Ind ); Lisa Chambers (FF ) and Therese Ruane (SF ), in the Castlebar area and Patsy O'Brien (FG ); Richard Finn (Ind ) and Gerry Murray (SF ) on the first count in the Claremorris area.
Castlebar
The Castlebar area has gone to a recount after Fianna Fáil Cllr Blackie Gavin pipped Castlebar Town Cllr Brendan Heneghan to the last seat in the area. The recount will get underway at 2pm today.
Claremorris
There was one count completed last night at 3.30am with Cllr Patsy O'Brien (FG ), Richard Finn (Ind ) and Gerry Murray (SF ) getting elected on the fist count shortly after 3am last night. The count will resume at 10am in the Ruby Room in the Royal Theatre.
Ballina
After one count in Ballina a recount was called for by Enda Lavelle (Ind ) which was acceded to by Returning Officer, John Condon and that will get underway at approx 2pm today.
West Mayo
There has been no count yet in the West Mayo area. It is due to get going at 10am this morning.
