First count just in from the Claremorris area. Patsy O'Brien (FG ) topped the poll and exceeded the quota of 1943 comfortably; Finn (Ind ) and Murray (SF ) also exceeded the quota on the first count.
The count is to resume in the morning at 10 am.
We will be back then with that recount of the first count in Ballina, West Mayo getting underway, the rest of the Claremorris count and the recount in Castlebar.

First count in the Claremorris electoral area is underway here in the Ruby Room at the TF Royal Theatre in Castlebar.
We will keep you updated with new results as they come in.

Last count came in for the Castlebar area and it was extremely close with just 25 votes between Brendan Heneghan (FG ) and Blackie Gavin (FF ) for the last seat. So a recount request from the Heneghan camp has been acceded to and the recount will take place tomorrow afternoon.
The last count did have McDonnell (FF ); Kenny (FG ); Durcan (Ind ); Burke (FG ); and Gavin (FF ) filling the last five seats.

First count is in for Ballina. However Enda Lavelle (Ind ) has requested a recount, which will take place tomorrow, most likely after 2 pm, in the Ruby Room, TF Royal Theatre, Castlebar.
The quota was 1815. In the initial count John O'Hara (FG ) topped the poll in Ballina with over 1600 first preference votes.
Seamus Weir was next with 1589.

Count in Claremorris area is getting underway shortly. There is still no count in for the Ballina area following a 'discrepency', which is being addressed now, according to returning officer John Condon.

Therese Ruane (SF ) and Lisa Chambers (FF ) have both been deemed elected in the Castlebar area after the sixth count.
The West Mayo count will commence tomorrow (Sunday ) at 10 am in the Ruby Room in the TF Royal Theatre.
The Claremorris area count will begin at 10 pm in the Ruby Room in the TF Royal Theatre.
Three seats are now filled in the Castlebar area. They are: Michael Kilcoyne (Ind ); Lisa Chambers (FF ); and Therese Ruane (SF ).
Fine Gael have yet to have a candidate elected in the area.

The sixth count in the Castlebar area is ongoing. The votes of Labour's Harry Barrett, which totalled 794, are being distributed now. As of yet, only Castlebar area has some counts back and we are still waiting for a first count from Ballina.
Michael Kilcoyne is still the only county councillor in Mayo deemed elected.

Still just one count result in here, which was for the Castlebar area and saw Cllr Michael Kilcoyne become the first county councillor to be elected in Ireland in local elections 2014.
Over in Ballina, still just the tally to work from, which is showing John O'Hara out in front followed by Seamus Weir (Ind ); Annie May Reape (FF ) and Jarlath Munnelly (FG ).
Then comes Michael Smyth (FF ); Enda Lavelle (Ind ); Michael Loftus (FF ); John Sheahan (SF ); Gerry Ginty (Ind ) and Eamon Moore (FF ) all within 150 votes of each other, according to the tally.
The tally has outgoing councillor Joe Mellett in 13th place and outgoing councillor Jimmy Maloney in 14th.

From boxes opened, it looks like Independent Cllr Michael Kilcoyne is doing very well. Kilcoyne topped the poll last time around. Other initial figures show Fianna Fáil's Lisa Chambers, who ran as a General Election candidate in 2011, doing well.

The boxes are being opened in the count centre in Castlebar, the count will begin with 38 boxes from the Castlebar area first and then the rest. Castlebar will be followed by Ballina. The count staff and tallymen and women are filing into the count centre here in the Royal Theatre in Castlebar ahead of the count. The boxes will be opened at 9am and the the local and European ballots will be seperated before the count proper gets underway.
