All roads lead to Turlough this weekend for the highly anticipated return of Feile na Tuaite, a festival which celebrates the best of rural life and living.
Ahead of the expected huge influx of people to the village over Saturday and Sunday, a traffic management plan is in place in Turlough and a free, shuttle service is also operating between Castlebar from the town library to Museum of Country Life gate from 11.30am on both days.
The free family festival is expected to attract some 20,000 visitors to enjoy demonstrations, dancing, music, activities, talks, workshops, and an artisan food producers area.
The programme includes demonstrations on beekeeping, thatching, forging, bushcraft, hurling, pottery, scarecrows, tinsmithing, wool-dying, organic growing, wood turning, basketmaking, butterflies, birds, and working dogs.
Talks and workshops include traditional games, environmental education and awareness, May Day costumes, the economics of rural life, sean nós dancing, and knitting.
Bands, choirs, ceilis, and Irish rock and folk are just a few of the entertainment offerings over the weekend.
All of the events over the weekend, which run from 12 noon to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday, are free.
