Vaughan Shoes set to boost Main Street Castlebar

Castlebar is set for a welcome boost today (Friday ) when Vaughan Shoes opens its doors in the iconic corner building on Main Street formerly occupied by Hynes Shoes.

Mayo footballer Donal Vaughan, director of Vaughan Shoes, is extremely excited about the new venture and bringing his family business to Castlebar. “It’s fantastic to be opening on Main Street, it has been hit hard during the recession but we see huge potential and are thrilled to be opening in such an landmark location.”

Mr Vaughan added: “The Hynes family have been extremely accommodating since coming into the space and Colm and his son Shane have been a great help in getting set up in the shop. Everyone in the shoe industry has huge respect for the Hynes’ so it was very important for us to have their support. So many people remember getting their first pair of shoes in Hynes’s over the last 60 years or so and we're hoping they’ll be doing the same in Vaughan Shoes in the future.”

Vaughan Shoes already operates two very successful shoe shops on the main streets in Ballinrobe and Claremorris and has shown great positivity and confidence in the future of high street shopping in Mayo.
