Ring announces funding of €949,185 for Mayo roads

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring this week announced funding of €803,185 for road works in Mayo from his Department. In total 48 regional and local roads were given funding in this grant. In addition to this, Mayo will also receive €146,000 for three schemes which the Mayo County Council did not complete in 2013 but is undertaking in the current year, namely the Corclough West L5238 road which has been allocated €56,000, the Glenlara L5240 road which was given €30,000, and Foxpoint L5258 road which has been given €60,000 to complete the projects.

Minister Ring said: “I am very pleased to be able to make this announcement for those roads. There are a lot of roads in the county which need urgent work. I am delighted that this Community Involvement Scheme has been approved again for this year.”

He went on to say: “Last year, almost €600,000 was approved from my Department. A lot of good work was carried out in Mayo from this funding. Today’s announcement will substantially improve these roads. The issue of these roads is something which I continue to highlight on a very regular basis within my Department.”
