Choral concerts, Mayo International Choral Festival Various venues throughout the county
A series of choral concerts will be held at venues throughout Mayo this evening (Friday ) as part of the Mayo International Choral Festival, which runs from May 13 to 18.
The concert venues are Ballina Arts Centre (8.30 pm ); Ballintubber Abbey (8.30 pm ); St Coleman’s Church, Claremorris (8 pm ); Swinford Cultural Centre (8.30 pm ).

Ballet, The Sound of Musicals Linenhall Arts Centre, Castlebar, all weekend
The talented children of the Mayo School of Ballet present this performance on Friday at 7 pm, Saturday at 3 and 7 pm and again on Sunday at 3 pm.
The ballet performance is set to some of the best loved music from the musicals, including songs from The Lion King, Cats, Sister Act and Matilda.

There’s live music all weekend in the Mill Times Hotel, Westport.

A series of outdoor concerts will be held in Castlebar on Saturday (tomorrow ) as part of the Mayo International Choral Festival.
The choirs will give short performances on the streets of the county town and in the Mayo Memorial Peace Park.

Cinema, Godzilla In local cinemas this weekend
The king of all monsters gets a reboot with this Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures production by Gareth Edwards, who gained critical attention with his intimate twist on the giant-creature genre with his feature-film debut, Monsters. David Goyer (The Dark Knight ) provides the script.

Sing in the new dawn on Sunday morning on the shores of scenic Lough Lannagh.
The informal gathering will see participating choirs and members of the public come together in song to celebrate the Mayo International Choral Festival.

Galway-based bluegrass duo The Molly Hicks are playing tonight (Friday ) in McGings Bar, Westport, to celebrate the launch of the eighth Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival. Blending bluegrass, folk and country, entry to this gig, at 9 pm, is free.
