Snugboro marks principal’s thirty four years of service

An event to pay tribute to Marie Loftus, retired principal of St Peter’s National School, Snugboro, is being held in the Welcome Inn Hotel, Castlebar, tonight (Friday ), at 8.30 pm.

Ms Loftus gave 34 years of service to the school. Some of her many achievements in that time include bringing major projects to fruition such as the extension of the PE hall, the purchase and development of the new pitch, developing new school gardens such as the sensory garden and courtyards, the wild flower garden, the polytunnel and produce garden.

During her tenure, Ms Loftus worked to develop the school band and promoted literacy, music, arts and crafts at the school.

The event is organised by the Snugboro school and community social committee.

The night will include a hot buffet, music by Reflex, and a raffle with several spot prizes to be won. All proceeds go towards the school playground development fund. Tickets are available at the school.

Pupils, parents, staff and members of the community wish Ms Loftus many years of great health and happiness in her retirement.
