One of Scotland’s premier fiddlers, a Californian cellist and a Donegal singer are joining forces for a traditional music event in the Linenhall Arts Centre on Wednesday, May 14, at 8 pm.
Alasdair Fraser, Natalie Haas and Mairéad Ni Mhaonaigh present The Iona Connection as part of a music network national tour.
The collaboration is inspired by the remote Hebridean isle of Iona and explores the connections between traditional Irish, Scottish and old time American music.
With a status tipping on the legendary, Alasdair Fraser is long-regarded as one of Scotland’s premier fiddlers. He and Natalie Haas have been creating a buzz at festivals and concert halls across Europe and America, and for this tour they are performing for the first time with the inestimable Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, one of the foremost singers in the Irish language and co-founder of trad legends Altan. A real musical treat is in store.
