Rock and Roll Kid for Acoustic Yard session

Eurovision Song Contest winner Charlie McGettigan, of ‘Rock and Roll Kids’ fame, and Mississipi born American songstress Kelley McRae are featuring at the next session of The Acoustic Yard.

The Acoustic Yard monthly session for singers and songwriters takes place again in Matt Molloys on Tuesday (April 29 ).

The session will also be filmed by Irishtv.ie as part of their new music schedule.

The line-up for Tuesday’s session will see three more talented songwriters showcase and talk about their songs in the relaxing surrounds of the Yard Bar in Matt Molloy’s.

Charlie McGettigan

It has been 20 years since Charlie McGettigan won the Eurovision Song Contest when joining forces with Paul Harrington and Brendan Graham on the song 'Rock and Roll Kids'.

The former Jargon member and winner of the prestigiuos Letterkenny Folk Festival still enjoys much success as a singer and songwriter and also as a presenter on The Saturday Connection on Shannonside and Northern Sound Radio.

Kelley McRae

Kelley McRae is touring Europe for the first time and is playing only a handful of gigs in Ireland. The Acoustic Yard will be her only west of Ireland performance. Described as having a “beautiful haunting voice that immediately catapults you into the indie Americana heartland”, she is a ‘new country’ songwriter and has just released a new album - Brighter than the Blue.

David Dee Moore

Host of The Acoustic Yard, David Dee Moore will take up the microphone to perform as well this month. He has recently released an album - The Sun, The Moon, The Stars...And Other Moving Objects. It is a collection of country folk songs and has recently received a lot of airplay in Ireland and the UK, culminating in appearances at the Westport Arts Festival and the Belfast Nashville singer/songwriters festival.
