Castlebar Celtic booked their place in the Bus Éireann Women’s National League Cup final for the second year in a row thanks to a 3-1 win over Peamount United in Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon. The Hoops are becoming quite the cup side, having made the final of this competition last year along with the final of the FAI Women's Senior Cup earlier this year in the Aviva Stadium. They go on to meet Wexford Youths in the final of the league cup on May 18.
Celtic got revenge on Peamount who beat them in last year's Bus Éireann Women’s National League Cup final in Milebush thanks to a player of the match performance from Emma Hansberry. The Celtic midfielder set up her sides first goal 12 minutes in playing in Aisling Egan who headed home past Monica McGuirk. Peamount drew level thanks to a Stephaine Roche penalty, before Hansberry put her side back into the lead with a powerful drive. A Hansberry corner an hour in wasn't dealt with by the Peamount defence and it ended up nestling in the back of the net and giving Celtic the breathing room they needed to see out the game and book their spot in the final against a Wexford Youths side who beat Raheny United 2-1 after extra time in the other semi-final.
