Husband and wife team launch online shopping business

An innovative, new website, developed by a husband and wife team from Mayo, is aiming to help local businesses reach the growing number of people who are shopping online.

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny performed the official launch of Trafficattic.com at Castlebar Chamber of Commerce yesterday morning. Trafficattic.com is an online shopping community where local businesses can sell and promote their products to shoppers at home and abroad.

Visitors to the website can shop for beauty products, clothing, DIY, wedding stationery, home-wares and more from local businesses and their shopping will be delivered direct to their door.

The website gives local businesses an opportunity to get in on the online shopping market and it also allows online shoppers to buy local and support businesses in their community.

The website went live at 9.30 am yesterday morning.

Ms McHugh, who comes from Breaffy, Castlebar, and has been working in web and graphic design for the past decade, said the website is easy to use for both the retailer and the consumer.

“In the past we have purchased from online retailers and found that there was very little scope for local businesses in Ireland to sell their products to this massive marketplace,” explained Ms McHugh.

“With the recession over the last few years, we saw a gap for a website like this. While providing consumers like myself with a wide variety of online products from locally run Irish businesses’, we in turn will be giving the retailers a chance to make extra sales.”

“Trafficattic.com will bring the local Main Street to the global shop front.”
