A syndicate from Mayo was just one number away from winning a massive €25.3 million EuroMillions jackpot. The group matched five numbers and one lucky star in the draw at the end of March to take home €258,237. The syndicate, who wish to keep their names private, bought their winning ticket in The Gem News, Bridge St, Ballyhaunis.
“We’re more than happy with this win,” said one of the winners. “To be honest there were six winners in our prize category so we thought we’d be getting one sixth of the prize. When I called the National Lottery and discovered we didn’t have to share the pot, it was like winning all over again.”
Another winner added: “The news is still sinking in. We’ve been playing for a number of years and have won a few euro here and there. We always hoped we’d win big but when it actually happens, the feeling is just incredible - indescribable”
