Croke Park date set for semi-final

For the seventh time since they won the National Football League back in 2001, Mayo will head into the final four of the competition this coming Sunday. James Horan's men booked their place in the semi-final with a comprehensive win over Derry in Elverys MacHale Park on Sunday and will take on the same opponents in GAA Headquarters at 2pm on Sunday.

The GAA confirmed the throw-in time and venue of the semi-final's on Monday afternoon. Armagh's Padraig Hughes will be the man in the middle on Sunday, with Dublin and Cork meeting in the second game in Croke Park at 4pm. Both games will go to extra time if required and are being broadcast live on television on TG4.

Since Mayo won the league title back in 2001 they have reached this stage of the competition on six occasions winning twice before,  in 2012 against Kerry and in 2007 against Galway, both times in Croke Park. The other four games saw Mayo lose to Dublin last year in Croke Park, to Galway in MacHale Park in 2006, to Armagh the year before in Croke Park and to Tyrone in Brewster Park in Fermanagh in 2002 when Mayo were the defending champions.
