The east Mayo town of Kiltimagh will gain international TV exposure next week with a film crew from Irish TV capturing the wonderful music and magic of the Kiltimagh Choral Festival for a TV programme. The hour long programme, called Out and About in Ireland, will be broadcast next Thursday at 9pm on Irish TV - Sky channel 191, Freesat 400, and online on www.irishtv.ie
This special music programme shines a spotlight on one of Ireland’s newest choral music festivals. The Kiltimagh Choral Festival, which is now in its third year, brought local, national, youth, and school choirs and artists to the town for a celebration of everything choral music has to offer.
The programme features insightful and engaging interviews from a host of names including Declan Cosgrave, (Kiltimagh Choral Festival chairman ), Evelyn Walsh and Seamus Corry (Kiltimagh Choral Festival committee members ), Laura Brogan (Grace Notes Ballyhaunis ), and Niall McDonnell (Kill Singers, Co Kildare ).
Speaking about the Irish TV programme, Declan Cosgrave, Kiltimagh Choral Festival chairman, said it was fantastic that the festival will be broadcast to a global TV audience. “Kiltimagh has a long history of music and choral work so it felt very natural for members of the town to put a choral festival together,” he said. “The festival is now in its third year and is growing in stature and reputation as a very successful festival. We are delighted to have Irish TV here with us to cover this event which shines a wonderful spotlight on the town. We hope everyone will enjoy watching it.”
The one hour programme can be viewed on Sky TV channel 191, Freesat 400, and online on irishtv.ie this coming Thursday, April 10 at 9pm.
