The shortlist for the Claremorris Fringe Festival of Drama, which takes place from April 4 to 11, has been announced.
The shortlist for the festival includes offerings from three Mayo playwrights as well as international entries from the UK, Scotland, and the US.
Seperate Table, by Michael Joe Ginnelly from Mulranny, has made it onto the shortlist.
Mr Ginnelly is the author of the highly-successful full-lenght plays Awake in the West and Pretend Sick.
Separate Table is a comedy about a daughter who cares for her uncooperative parents.
Anne Donnelly’s Poisoned is also on the shortlist.
Ms Donnelly is originally from Carlow but now lives and works in Castlebar. She writes poetry, short stories, and short plays. This is her second year being shortlisted for the Fringe Festival.
Poisoned is set in a funeral home in modern day Ireland.
Ken Armstrong from Castlebar has also made the shortlist with Dance Night.
Mr Armstrong has written a number of plays for theatre, radio, and film. His play The Doubles Partner was the winner of last year’s Claremorris Fringe Festival.
Dance Night sees Diana present a short talk on the nature and joy of amateur drama but sometimes it’s hard to keep focussed.
The date of each play will be decided shortly and writers will be notified.
Organisers of the festival expressed their thanks to all who submitted work.
The Claremorris Fringe Festival of Drama takes place from April 4 to 11 and will see 16 new plays staged over eight nights.
