Day care services to resume at MacBride Nursing Home

aThe HSE has confirmed that day care services at the MacBride Community Nursing Home in Westport are to resume next month.

The service is to reopen the first week in April.

The day care service was suspended almost a year ago due to staffing issues.

West Mayo election candidate and local town councillor Tereasa McGuire welcomed the news.

“The closing of this vital service has been an issue of huge concern locally,” said the Fine Gael representative.

“I am delighted that it is being reopened for service users and their carers, for whom it is an absolute lifeline.”

Minister of State for Tourism and Sport Michael Ring said he had been in constant contact with the HSE on this matter and received a letter from the HSE stating services would resume in the first week of April.

“The day care services in the MacBride CNU have been closed for many months and it has caused great inconvenience for many service users of the facility in Westport. I welcome the confirmation from Mr Frank Murphy that this facility will be open in the first week of April,” he said.
